An emotional theatrical journey alongside Saint Francis of Assisi will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 20:45 in the enchanting setting of the Church of San Francesco in Colombare. The event, titled ‘Francesco, Bowed Over the Cradle of the World’, will feature Laura Gambarin, the author and actress of the performance.
The monologue, enriched by two choirs and a small orchestra, offers a new intimate and contemporary interpretation of the figure of Saint Francis of Assisi. In this show, Laura Gambarin reflects on the current meaning of the story of the saint of Assisi, emphasizing how Francis’ voice seems to speak an even more modern language today.
The choral production involves two local choirs, the GardArt choir from Peschiera del Garda and the Anima Vocis choir from Desenzano del Garda, along with a small orchestra composed of local musicians. Under the direction of Walter Peraro, the musical pieces, including those from the Franciscan tradition and by Angelo Branduardi, intertwine with the voices of the ‘brothers’, transforming pain into harmony and sorrow into dance. Towards the conclusion, the emotion escalates with the poetry of Alda Merini.
